RE: Mexico

While we haven't been to Puerto Peñasco, go there, eat lots of shrimp, and enjoy yourself. Then if you like it and desire further Mexico travel, drop on down to San Carlos/Guaymas, or go out to Keno Bay. Just enjoy. If you find that it isn't your cup of tea, then that's OK too. Different strokes. You will get plenty of advise on this forum, some good, and some less than helpful. (Hows that for tact Mr Moderator?):B

RE: Made it to coast of Michoacan

Hi Graydon, glad you made it OK. When are you making your La Penita coffee run? We are in our usual space (104). We plan on taking a trip or two in the truck in Jan/Feb/Mar and hope to see you guys and scope out your RV park then. I want to do an RV park check on some new parks I've read about around Morelia and south of Guad, and we want to see Z.

RE: Credit/Criminal Checks for 30+ days at campground?

I would prefer to stay in a campground that did not invade my privacy. We have lost too much of our privacy due to the scare tactics that the govt has been giving us the last few years in the name of homeland security. Gee I feel so much safer now. Especially while we are in Mexico.

RE: Passports

Just use # instead of PMB. We used that for several years until NV licences got too expensive and we "moved" to WA. I now use the address of the trailer park we stay at, when we are in WA, and a PO box for mail.

RE: What type of rig?

We've fulltimed for 3 years in a 29" Larado 5th wheel. We have plenty of room except for closet space and I've adapted. We follow the sun so our wardrobe is all summer clothing. We're looking at buying a Carriage Cameo hopefully next year. Lindy

RE: Favorite fresh shrimp recipes

Lime juice, garlic, olive oil marinade and BBQ. Marinade after shelling and deveining for only about 15 min. Reserve some marinade to brush over shrimp on BBQ. We're in Mexico and eat shrimp every couple of days and have dozens of ways of preparing but this is the tried and true and the best. Lindy

RE: For my fellow full-timers and our Veterans

I wonder how many highschool students know what the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month signifies? When I was a kid, they called it Armistice day. Down here in Mexico, we get Canadian Starchoice TV, and all the Canadian news commentators are wearing a poppy, and they advertise it. Don't see much about it on the US channels though, too bad. 4 years US Navy, with time on Yankee Station, and 26 years US Coast Guard.

No, Mexico is NOT safe. It will be full of crazed Canadians, looking to force strong drink down unsuspecting Americans. STAY AWAY!!!;)

RE: 5th wheel vs class A

If you like MHs, you will have many reasons why you like them better than 5ers, and vice/versa. Hooking up Water, Elec, and Sewer all take the same effort, and on the two small caravans I have been on in Mexico, 5ers were ready usually faster than MHs as they had to pull out and hook up their toads. Personal preference rules, and YOU will be the one putting out the money and living with your decision, not us.:B

RE: Wich MFG have closed their doors ?

Anyone know if Northwood Mfg is doing OK? We stopped and toured the plant, and chatted with Mr. Nash for a few min in Set. We heard from another source that they had already pared workers, gitting rid of the deadwood so to speak. Our next RV might be an Arctic Fox.

RE: Mexico Safety!

BTW, the six year old who was kidnapped in Vegas by (supposed) Mexican Drug Cartel members as a warning to his grandfather, was found last night unharmed, walking the streets. I too was a bit leery of traveling alone down to La Penita this year, that's why we decided to go on the caravan. The beheadings in Creel and the violence in Culican were what made the decision for us. We are still planning on doing some traveling when we get there, leaving the 5th wheel in the park and staying in hotels and motels. We want to go at least as farsouth as Z. and inland to Morelia and Guad. There are several RV parks we want to check out. Don't know if we will get as far south as David E's place though.

RE: Extremely important new survey. :)

Well, I drink OM N/A, O'douls or Sharps, although I prefer St Pauli Girl N/A, but I will buy a container of this Padre Kino stuff and try it out on Linda, who is a whine, er, wine drinker and some of our Canadian friends in La Peñita,(some of them will drink anything).:B:W

We spent last winter in Yuma, so I will be glad to get back to Mexico where you can at least predict what the other driver is going to do.:W I just smile, don't make ANY gestures, and let them go. Much good advise from all, all saying the same basic thing, BE AWARE OF WHAT IS GOING ON AROUND YOU!:S
